In 1995 the COPING Centre was established in Guelph, Ontario, Canada to provide a place of short-term rest and personal retreat for those experiencing particular difficulties in their grief journey. In 2000, the COPING Centre moved to Cambridge, to a beautiful century estate nestled in six acres of beautiful gardens and mature trees overlooking the Grand River. The COPING Centre provides a sanctuary for those who are in need of care and provides a tranquil place for small groups to meet. Educational seminars and other related activities for the grieving and for the care-givers involved in bereavement support are convened at the COPING Centre.
Over the years COPING facilitators have been given the tremendous privilege and opportunity to present teaching seminars at hospitals, medical conferences, church conferences, educational institutes and in private residences worldwide. Satellite expressions of the COPING work can be found across the nation of Canada, and around the world. New opportunities are constantly being realized, and needed COPING volunteers are being recognized, trained, and encouraged in the challenging and rewarding privilege of being a caring companion to those who journey the hard road of grief.
